D-link router setup troubleshoot

You have purchased a D-link router and now you are ready for your Wi-Fi and running. Follow the quick setup guide which you bought with router. In case if you need some extra help, this blog will explain you the entire setup process and give you some important links and helpful resources.

Users with DSL providers- If you are using PPPOE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) connection, than you will need PPPOE username and password. If you don’t have this then get it from your Internet Service Providers. Do not proceed without it.


Users with cable providers- Make sure you unplug the power to your modem.


Users with Modem/Router combo-if your Internet providers provides you modem/router combo, you will need to set it to “bridge” mode so your D-link router can work properly.


Setup instructions

1. Unplug the power to your Cable/DSL internet modem.

2. Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer/laptop to a LAN port on your router.

3. Connect Cable/DSL modem to internet port.

4. Power on both router and Cable/DSL.

5. Open your internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in address bar.

6. You should be prompted with D-link quick router setup Wizard, and next to begin.

• Now router will perform a scan, and you will be prompted to select Internet type: DHCP connection- Cable Internet Service/PPPOE/DSL.

• Next are wireless settings. Enter the new wireless name and password.

• Select your time zone.

• A summary of wireless network will be displayed. Click save.

• The router will now reboot to apply your new settings and you’re is complete now.
